Hindu Valentine’s day: Basant Panchami

Yellow sari for girls and yellow kurta or shirt for boys is the dress code on occasion of Vasant Panchami. Even the mustard fields are yellow and flower gardens mesmerize us with vibrant colors and fragrances, especially marigold. Its nature’s way of calling its mate. According to the Hindu calendar, this day marks the beginning of the month-long Vasant Utsav. It is also the day of Hindu Valentine’s day.

So enjoy the essence of love.

Why? Republic Day Thought

71 years old today.
One of our national festivals THE REPUBLIC DAY.
Sadly, most of us consider it as an official holiday rather than a national festival. Why isn’t the spirit the same as in Diwali, Eid or Christmas or other big religious festivities? Why our patriotism is limited to desh bakti geet and flag hoisting only. And why is it only the responsibility of only government offices, schools or institutions to host the ceremony? Our religious festivals are not limited to communities or institutions. It’s personal. So why can’t Republic Day or Independence Day be personal too? We can organize events in every nook and corner to mark the occasion. Just like the Ganapati festival. Lots of sentiments and enthusiasm.
Social Media celebrates every occasion. However, it’s now time we make it offline too. Jai Hind.
